Russell Kaurloto has served as the associate CIO for information technology since November 2007.

Kaurloto oversees enterprise networking, telecommunications, IT security, data center operations, and customer support. He also serves a leadership role in the development of an IT strategic plan to enhance operations.

Kaurloto has been with ITS since 2000. As associate executive director of enterprise network technologies, Kaurloto was responsible for communications technology for the USC campuses and the base network infrastructure, including data, voice, and cellular devices, along with associated media (both wired and wireless).

Prior to joining USC, Kaurloto spent twenty-two years with the Associated Press (AP). From 1997 to 2000, he served as the director of technology and chief of communications for the western and central regional offices of the Associated Press. His responsibilities included all IT resources, support, and services of AP technical equipment for over 1,500 newspapers, radio, TV, financial institutions, and AP offices across 13 western states. He has given talks at numerous professional organizations, including Computerworld and Focus conferences.
