Robert Lau is the director of information security.
The director of the information security group is responsible for the prevention, detection, investigation, analysis, and remediation of university-wide network-based threats and breaches. The director collaborates with the university’s Office of Compliance and the university’s IT community to establish best practices and policies for firewalls, intrusion detection, log analysis, vulnerability scanning, incident response, and security training. The director maintains the ITS security website (www.usc.edu/its/security) and security blog (it-security.usc.edu).
The director provides support to USC’s Office of Compliance, Department of Public Safety, Office of the General Counsel, and Office of Student Judicial Affairs to assure compliance with federal, state, local, university, and other regulatory policies and laws related to information security and privacy.
The director of information security is a member of the CIO cabinet.
