As the assistant chief information officer for Enterprise Infrastructure and Services, David Galassi leads initiatives in networking and telecommunications, external networking, enterprise infrastructure, customer support, and operations in support of USC’s schools and administrative units.
Galassi has more than twenty-five years in the field of information technology. With professional experience that spans higher education, health care, industry, and banking and includes assignments abroad, he brings to this role a wealth of knowledge, as well as breadth and depth of strategic vision. Prior to his position at USC, he served as director of network engineering and system administration for Yale’s Information Technology Services.
At Yale, Galassi was responsible for engineering and service delivery for voice, data, server hosting, storage, virtualization, video, cable TV, and mobile phone services for the university, including academic and administrative buildings, student residences, professional schools, and the medical school. Among his many accomplishments at Yale, he led a number of initiatives to improve user satisfaction with network services, served on the advisory team for IT service management and improvement, and participated as co-principal investigator (PI) on two National Science Foundation-funded projects with Yale faculty.
Galassi previously held positions at Chemtura Corporation, Applera Corporation, and Oxford Health Plans, among others. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in business/computer studies from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.
