Welcome to the USC Software Website
This site is intended to help USC faculty, staff, and students locate information on software available both through ITS and through USC schools and units. It provides relevant information about licensing restrictions and availability, including whether the software is available for download, for use in ITS-managed or departmental computing centers, or through virtual desktop interfaces (VDI) such as cloudapps.usc.edu. Direct download links are included for some software distributed through ITS. For information on specific software, choose a program from the site menu.
NOTE: The content on this site is still being developed and may not reflect a comprehensive list of available USC software.
If your school or unit provides licensed software that you believe should be added to this site, please email email@example.com.
Free Campus-Wide Software
See software.usc.edu/free-to-campus for a listing of all software that is freely available to all USC faculty, staff, and students. If your school or unit provides software with free, campus-wide licenses that you believe should be added to this site, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
USC Mobile Apps
USC offers free iOS and Android apps for services such as Blackboard and Workday, departments such as the USC Libraries, and organizations such as the USC Alumni Association and the Shoah Foundation.
Please see the USC Mobile Apps page for a full list of apps available for download. If you have developed an app you would like to see listed, check our eligibility requirements and submit a request here.
Microsoft Office for USC Faculty, Staff, and Students
All current USC faculty, staff, and students may download free copies of Microsoft Office Professional Plus, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
See the Microsoft Office page for information on how to download this software.
Research Computing Resources
Here are several important updates on research computing resources at USC.
Reduced Pricing for SPSS
ITS has reduced the cost of its SPSS statistical software offering for faculty and staff. SPSS is now available to faculty and staff for an annual lease rate of $99. For more information on leasing SPSS from ITS, see itservices.usc.edu/stats/spss/orderfacstaff. If you are a student and wish to lease SPSS, see itservices.usc.edu/stats/spss/order for information on leasing the software at a discounted educational rate through our authorized IBM online retailer.
New Qualitative Data Analysis Software: NVivo and ATLAS.ti
USC has recently expanded its research software offerings by purchasing campus-wide licenses for two qualitative data analysis (QDA) programs, NVivo and ATLAS.ti. These programs are available for free to USC faculty, students, and staff and are meant to help analyze text-based and multimedia data sets from your desktop computer.
